From the moment Trevor asked to put on his shoes, it was clear he was ready for his holiday adventure—and what a week it turned out to be!
Between 10th–13th June 2025, Trevor enjoyed a well-earned break at Raywell Hall in Cottingham, and from start to finish, it was packed with sunshine, laughter, comfort food, and plenty of memorable moments.
A Rockin' Road Trip
The journey began with 70s tunes on the stereo and a cheeky drive-thru stop for a milkshake and hash brown—Trevor-style. On arrival, the cabin (lovingly prepared in advance by Maria and Gail) was all on one level and easy to navigate, with a king-size bed and ensuite just for Trevor. He quickly found the huge blue sofa, settled in with a cup of tea, and gave the massive TV an approving smile.
Relaxation in Style
With his king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, and a peaceful garden complete with hot tub, sun loungers, and a giant picnic bench, Trevor settled in perfectly. He enjoyed his meals al fresco—pizza and pork pie for dinner followed by strawberries and cream, all chosen by Trevor himself in earlier shopping plans. “You can’t do this at home,” he said as he soaked up the sunshine—an unforgettable comment that truly captured the spirit of the trip.
The Joy of Choice
Throughout the week, Trevor was supported to make his own choices—from music on Alexa (70s, 80s, and even a splash of 60s!) to meals, rest times, and whether to join in outdoor games or simply enjoy watching the world go by. Whether he was tucked up watching Escape to the Country or laughing at table tennis mishaps, he always had the freedom and support to do things his way.
Moments That Mattered
Trevor’s bath on Thursday morning was a milestone moment. It was his first in years, and he was supported by Gail with care and trust. “Maria, Gail—I’m ready to get out now!” he called after ten peaceful minutes. There were giggles as he wrestled with his socks afterwards, followed by cups of tea, 60s music and sunshine in the garden.
One afternoon even saw Trevor and Gail dancing in the lounge to Dancing in the Dark—a moment captured on video, full of smiles and pure joy.
A Glowing Review
On the final day, Trevor shared his verdict on camera:
“A fantastic holiday… super… we could come again… with the same people… good food all round!”
Maria and Gail were both moved by his words—proof of the deep trust and connection they’ve built with Trevor.
Back Home, but Looking Ahead
After fish and chips at The Lobster Pot, Trevor was back home and full of smiles—already asking when he could go away again. And we’re happy to say plans are now in motion for October!
Trevor’s story is a beautiful reminder of the joy a simple break can bring when it’s built around trust, good company, and a little bit of sunshine.
Huge thanks to Gail and Maria for making his week so special.
