Moorview Care is proud to announce that Moorview Matters has once again been recognised on a national stage, having been named a finalist for The People’s Award at the National Learning Disability and Autism Awards 2026. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the group has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award, following their win in 2023 for the Breaking Down Barriers Award.

Moorview Matters is a powerful co-production group made up of people supported by Moorview Care, who play a central role in shaping how we designed and deliver care and support. Established through the vision of CEO Julie Wells-Colley, the group ensures that lived experience is not only heard, but embedded into every aspect of the organisation.

For the past three years, the group has been facilitated by Nicki Dixon, Director of Operations, who has supported and championed their work throughout its growth and national recognition. Reflecting on this latest achievement

Nicki Dixon, Director of Operations, commented:

“Moorview Matters continues to challenge us, inspire us and lead the way in how co-production should look in practice. The impact they have across Moorview Care, and beyond, is significant. I am incredibly proud of every member of the group and what they continue to achieve.”

Over the past year, Moorview Matters has been leading an innovative and impactful project focused on the development of Video Support Plans. These co-produced, personalised videos give individuals the opportunity to explain, in their own words, how they want to be supported, what matters to them, and what helps them feel safe. By combining accessible digital tools with lived experience, the project is transforming how support is understood and delivered, particularly for new team members joining Moorview Care.

The group continues to set the standard for meaningful co-production. Members are actively involved in reviewing business plans, shaping training, contributing to recruitment processes and offering direct feedback on their support. Their work extends beyond Moorview Care, including collaboration with local police to improve accessible communication around Hate and Mate Crime, and partnerships with organisations such as University College London to influence wider approaches to care and inclusion.

Nicola, Chair of Moorview Matters, also shared her thoughts on the nomination:

“Being part of Moorview Matters means our voices are heard and taken seriously. The work we’ve done on Video Support Plans is important because it helps people understand and support people in the right way. We’re proud to represent Moorview Care and show what people can achieve when they’re given the chance.”

The winners will be announced at a prestigious ceremony held at the NEC Birmingham Arena on 19th June, hosted by national treasure Peter Andre. The event celebrates excellence across the learning disability and autism sector, recognising individuals and organisations who are making a real difference.

This latest nomination is a testament to the dedication, passion and leadership of Moorview Matters. At Moorview Care, we are incredibly proud of the group and the vital role they play in shaping a more inclusive, person-centred future for supported people.
