We’re proud to celebrate Team Leader Chibundo (Hull), who has successfully completed the Skills for Care leadership programme. "Moving Up" is a nationally recognised programme for those who want to take the next step in their learning and development. This opportunity is designed to support Black and Asian aspiring leaders in health and social care to progress their careers.

The Moving Up programme brings together professionals from across the sector, including social care, local government, charities and healthcare, creating a rich and diverse learning experience. Through a blended approach of self-learning modules, live workshops and peer connection, the goal is to develop confidence, leadership capability and a deeper understanding of their personal impact.

Reflecting on the experience, Chibundo shared:

| “The programme has been both empowering and transformative for me.”

The programme also focuses on key areas such as personal brand, networking, overcoming barriers and understanding how culture and lived experience shape practice. The introduction of 'allyship' is key. This supports leaders to actively create more inclusive and equitable workplaces.

For Chibundo, the impact has been both personal and professional:

| “I have greater confidence in my abilities and my role, and a clearer insight into the areas I must develop to progress in my career.”

The programme also created valuable space for reflection, something that can often be overlooked in busy leadership roles:

| “I appreciate the space it created for me to reflect and determine what must change in my current practice.”

At Moorview Care, we are committed to investing in opportunities that support equity, inclusion and growth. This programme has had a lasting impact across the sector for over 12 years, and we are proud to support our leaders in accessing it. It's fitting that Chibundo reaches this milestone as we join the fifth year of 'Celebrating Social Care'.

Since 2022, Skills For Care dedicate the month of April to #CelebratingSocialCare. They use this month to shout a little bit louder about the value of Social Care and those who work within it, and encourage everyone else to join in.

People who work in social care are highly skilled, passionate and hard-working and it’s important that we all take time to recognise the vital work they do. Without our sector’s dedicated workforce many people would not be able to live fulfilling lives in the way they choose.

As Chibundo puts it:

| “I am more motivated and better equipped to continue providing value for myself, our people, the team and the organisation.”

A huge congratulations to Chibundo. Your growth, dedication and leadership are inspiring.
