"This is the life!" – Georgia.

Birthdays are all about making memories, and this year Georgia celebrated hers with a very special adventure - her first-ever two-night holiday away from home.

Supported by Julie, Georgia travelled by bus from Whitby to Scarborough, excited for a few days of relaxation, fun and celebrating her birthday in style.

The first stop was lunch at one of Georgia's favourite places, Brewers Fayre, where she enjoyed a classic burger and a refreshing shandy before heading to the accommodation.

"I couldn't wait to get in the hot tub!"  Georgia laughed. "It was amazing!"

As soon as she saw the beautiful holiday home, complete with a luxurious hot tub, Georgia knew it was going to be a trip to remember. She was so excited that she immediately FaceTimed her friend, who just happened to be enjoying a holiday herself!

The evening included a stroll around the local area, a trip to the shops and a delicious Indian takeaway. Georgia tucked into her favourite chicken korma with a Smirnoff Ice before spending the rest of the evening listening to music on YouTube with Julie, singing along to favourites including Rihanna and Amy Winehouse.

The following morning started with a cooked breakfast before another familiar face arrived. Support Worker Lucy joined Georgia for a coffee before the pair headed into Scarborough town centre.

There was time for a pamper session at the nail bar before Georgia enjoyed spending her birthday money on a shopping trip, treating herself to a stylish new denim shirt and a few other goodies. Back at the holiday home, another relaxing soak in the hot tub rounded off a fantastic afternoon.

That evening was all about winding down with plenty of episodes of Geordie Shore before the big day finally arrived.

On her birthday morning, Support Worker Lucy cooked breakfast before Georgia travelled home, where more celebrations awaited with birthday presents from her family.

Reflecting on her holiday, Georgia couldn't stop smiling.

"I had a great time, and I'd definitely want to go again. Happy Birthday to me!"

The trip was about much more than celebrating a birthday. For the first time, Georgia spent two nights away from home, embracing a new experience with confidence. She adapted brilliantly to unfamiliar surroundings, navigated the spacious accommodation independently and showed just how much her confidence has grown.

Experiences like these help build independence, develop life skills and open up new opportunities, and Georgia has already decided she'd love to make it an annual tradition!

One of Georgia's favourite parts of sharing her adventures is seeing the messages of support from friends and the team on the Whitby Communication Group; she always loves reading everyone's birthday wishes and comments.

Here's to many more adventures, Georgia! And maybe another dip in the hot tub next year! 🎂🛍️🛁💚
