Mum and Support Worker, Dawn's Unique Contribution to Moorview Care

Dawn has a very special connection to Moorview Care. For the past 10 years, her son Joe has been supported by Moorview Care, and during that time Dawn has also become part of the Team herself, working as a Support Worker.

Alongside her frontline role, Dawn is an active member of two important initiatives within Moorview Care.

She is part of the Family Working Group, which brings together relatives of the people we support to share experiences, provide feedback and help shape how Moorview Care continues to grow and improve. The group ensures that family voices are heard and influence decision-making across the organisation.

Dawn is also a member of the Impact Group, which focuses on understanding and evidencing the difference Moorview Care makes in people’s lives, ensuring that support remains meaningful, outcome-focused and person-centred.

Importantly, Dawn does not work in the house where Joe lives. This is essential in maintaining professional boundaries and, most importantly, supporting Joe’s independence. It ensures he has his own Team around him while Dawn remains his mum first and foremost.

Balancing both roles requires openness, trust and clear communication.

Dawn manages the unique responsibility of being both a parent and a member of the Team with professionalism and care, understanding that maintaining those separate relationships is key.
