As Moorview Care continues to grow, so does how we support our community. We are excited to announce our new programme, Rooted.
Rooted is a brand-new initiative and apprenticeship programme, created to inspire and help develop the next generation of Support Workers. We want to open the doors of Moorview Care to young people aged 16 to 18, giving them a pathway into a meaningful career.
While visiting colleges and speaking with students, our Learning and Development Team saw strong interest among young people eager to begin building their futures and exploring potential career paths. Those conversations inspired the creation of a supported pathway into care and support work.
Catherine shares how:
“Our Learning and Development Team are blown away by the enthusiasm from these young people.”
Every element of the programme has been carefully designed with participants in mind. By combining structured learning with practical, hands-on experience, apprentices will gain the confidence, skills, and support they need to thrive. Each apprentice will also be paired with a dedicated buddy who will provide guidance and encouragement every step of the way.
Catherine highlights the importance of creating a safe and supportive learning environment, saying:
“It gives them full exposure to what it's like to work in Health and Social Care, but in a safe setting.”
Through real-world experience, they will gain a genuine understanding of the different roles available and the rewarding careers they can lead to. When recruitment begins, the focus won’t be only on experience, but also on whether their passion and values align with ours.
Moorview Care values are at the heart of everything we do. They define who we are and what we stand for, so we are looking for people who embody our core values of Trust, Be Kind, Respect, Work Together, Learn, and Lead. These values influence every interaction, every decision, and everything we strive to achieve as a team.
As Catherine explains:
“We can give people those additional skills, but unless you have that passion and those Moorview Care values already, it’s harder to do.”
This programme not only allows our participants to learn and grow in their career, but also benefits Moorview Care. By welcoming the new generation of aspiring Support Workers, we’re bringing fresh ideas, new perspectives and valuable insights that help strengthen our team.
The positive impact of apprenticeships is something our team sees first-hand, and it's one of the reasons we're so passionate about investing in future talent.
Catherine recognises the benefits, emphasising:
“I’ve worked in apprenticeships for years and have really seen the value in them.”
One of the things that makes Moorview Care so special is the incredible people who work here. We’re proud to have an exceptional team, including an award-winning Support Worker. The team's knowledge, experience, and passion for delivering high-quality care will play an important role in the success of Rooted. We hope our team will inspire, mentor and support our apprentices as they begin their careers, while also learning and growing alongside them. This programme is designed to be a genuine two-way experience, creating opportunities for shared learning and development.
We are so excited to get this programme started and to welcome new apprentices as they take the first steps in their careers.
