National Wellness Month: Small Steps, Big Difference 💚

August is National Wellness Month, a time dedicated to prioritising our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing through small, sustainable changes that help us feel our best. Running throughout August, the campaign encourages us to focus on self-care, healthy habits, stress management, and the creation of positive routines that support our long-term health.
At Moorview Care, wellbeing isn't something we only think about for one month of the year; it's part of who we are. Whether you're one of our team members or one of the people we support, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life, and feel informed about the steps you can take to achieve this.
Meet Sam, our Culture and Wellbeing Lead
Supporting this commitment is Sam Stockill, our Culture and Wellbeing Lead.
Sam's role is all about creating a workplace where people feel valued, supported and able to thrive. From promoting positive wellbeing initiatives for our team and our people, to developing resources and encouraging healthy conversations, Sam works across the organisation to help build a culture where wellbeing comes first.
Working alongside Sam is our network of Health and Wellbeing Champions. Champions are there to:
💚 Promote healthy lifestyles and positive wellbeing.
🤝 Signpost team members and the people we support to helpful resources and services.
💬 Encourage conversations about physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
🌱 Champion wellbeing initiatives across Moorview Care.
Sometimes, simply knowing where to find support can make all the difference.

Watch Sam's ‘Call To Action’ Video
As part of National Wellness Month, Sam has recorded a special video message introducing the Seven Pillars of Wellbeing and encouraging us all to consider how we can make small improvements with a lasting impact.
The seven pillars remind us that wellbeing isn't just about physical health, it's about looking after every aspect of our lives:
🧠 Mental Wellbeing
Taking care of our thoughts and emotions, managing stress and making time for mindfulness and reflection.
💪 Physical Wellbeing
Looking after our bodies through movement, good nutrition, hydration, quality sleep and regular health checks.
❤️ Emotional Wellbeing
Recognising and understanding our feelings, building resilience and knowing when to ask for support.
👥 Social Wellbeing
Maintaining positive relationships, staying connected with others and being part of a supportive community.
🌿 Environmental Wellbeing
Creating spaces that help us feel calm, safe, and motivated, whether at home, at work, or outdoors.
📚 Intellectual Wellbeing
Keeping our minds active through learning, creativity, curiosity and personal development.
✨ Purpose and Spiritual Wellbeing
Feeling connected to our values, finding purpose and taking time to appreciate the things that matter most.
No one pillar is more important than another; they all work together to support our overall wellbeing.
Small Changes Really Do Make a Difference
National Wellness Month reminds us that wellbeing doesn't have to involve dramatic lifestyle changes. Often it's the smallest habits that have the biggest impact.
Why not try one of these this month?
🚶 Take a short walk during your break.
💧 Drink a little more water each day.
📖 Start a gratitude journal.
📵 Put your phone away for an hour.
🧘 Practise mindfulness or deep breathing.
😴 Prioritise a good night's sleep.
🌳 Spend time outdoors with friends, family or colleagues.
The NHS also offers a range of free wellbeing resources through Every Mind Matters, including personalised wellbeing plans, sleep advice and practical tips for managing stress and anxiety.
Looking After Ourselves So We Can Support Others
At Moorview Care, we know that when our team take time to look after their own wellbeing, they're better able to support others to focus on the kind of lives they want to live.
This National Wellness Month, we'd encourage everyone to take a few moments to watch Sam's video, explore the resources available to you, and consider one small change that could make a positive difference.
After all, wellbeing isn't about being perfect - it's about taking one positive step at a time.
Here's to a happy, healthy August! 💚
